New Build v0.3.0226
Download the latest version at https://magicbeansaudio.com/pages/downloadChangelog:
- Added support for A1 - A1 Evo Neuron currently only supports a single global target curve which does not yet correct full range.
- Fixed issue with 128 channel calibration (Pro license)
- Started testing Speaker EQ-ability (export option in Alpha stage) - this looks at directivity for each speaker, but we need to change how it grades performance. This will work very differently in future versions.

Dirac Live 3.13.2 // 2025-02-28
Features
- ART support range sliders now take precedence over the detected range of a speaker.
- In cases where there is no subwoofer used as support speaker, ART filter designs could sometimes result in undesirable magnitude boosts at frequencies between the speaker’s detected low cut-off and the user’s selected low end of the ART support range.
- The workaround has been to manually adjust the advanced target curve to not “ask for” more bass than the available supporting speakers can provide.
- The updated functionality will instead use the selected low end of the ART support range to limit, or contain, the magnitude boost applied by the ART filter design. Therefore, it will not longer be necessary to adjust the advanced target curve to achieve a “reasonable” ART filter design.
- The LFE group in ART now uses a non-subwoofer speaker to define its time target.
- ART utilizes the measured wavefront propagation of the main speaker in each microphone position to define the time target response for that channel.
- For the LFE channel, ART utilized the first subwoofer in the LFE group as main speaker for the LFE channel. However, this has two drawbacks:
- The main peak in a subwoofer’s impulse response can sometimes be difficult to detect. In cases where the detection has failed in one or more microphone positions, the resulting target may not represent a desired wavefront propagation.
- When multiple subwoofers are used, then ART may “unfairly” assign too much power to the first subwoofer, due to its measured capability to contribute more effectively to attaining the target (which was defined by its measured response) than the other subwoofers.
- The updated functionality will use a full-range speaker to define the time target for the LFE channel.
- If there is a Center speaker, ART will try to identify it and use it as target.
- If a Center speaker cannot be certainly identified, then ART will use either the Front Left or the Front Right speaker as target.
- The advanced ART settings for the LFE channel group has a drop-down menu to let the user manually override the automatic selection.
- When Dirac is handling bass management (BM, BC, ART), the LFE channel will always have a low-pass filter applied at 120 Hz. This is to comply with LFE channel handling requirements and be consistent with the Dirac Live Bass Control (DLBC) behaviour.
- ART now supports the case where some speakers are excluded from supporting other speakers. However, they may still receive support from other speakers when they are enabled.
- Reduced the time it takes to export a filter to Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer devices.
Bug fixes
- Fixing a few issues related to measurements taken while an AVR was on an older firmware and using them for filter design and filter export to the same AVR with an upgraded firmware:
- Dirac Live could crash when clicking the Bass Management filter design option.
- Bass Control filter design could fail with a message “Malformed request”.
- Filter export could fail with an error message “Failed filter export”.
- Fixed an issue where Dirac Live could crash when calculating a Bass Control filter with a narrowband subwoofer.
- Fixed an issue where Dirac Live could crash at the end of ART preprocessing for a 2.1 system.
- Fixed an issue where Dirac Live could silently fail to load an older ART project, showing no measurements in the filter design page.
- Fixed an issue where loading a stored Dirac Live filter design snapshot would put the filter design in a wrong state - as if it had a completed filter design, which it didn’t. An attempt to export that filter design to the device would fail.
- Fixed an issue where an offer to upgrade a license to ART wasn’t shown when connected to a device supporting ART.
- Adjusted the LFE low-pass filter cut-off frequency in Bass Control to be -3dB at 120Hz. It was previously erroneously set to -6dB at 120Hz.
- Fixed an issue where the Bass Control subwoofer impulse response plots were not properly scaled, almost appearing as having zero amplitude (flat).
- Fixed an issue in the Filter Export page where the text input box for the filter name would sometimes lose focus while typing.
- Missing/wrong signing for the previous beta releases has been fixed.
- Other minor bug fixes and under-the-hood stabilizations.
Known Issues
- The animations in the Dirac Live UI during measurements have been temporarily disabled. This is because we have found that the animations cause high CPU load on some computers, both PCs and Macs, resulting in audio buffer loss in the measurements. The measurement progress can be followed in the progress percentage, which is still displayed.
- Processing progress percentage can in some situations jump backwards. This doesn’t indicate that there is a problem with the processing itself. It is only the calculation of the progress that needs fixing.

"Can I transfer my license to a new device?
License transfers are possible if you are selling your hardware device and the new owner wants to take ownership of the Dirac Live license, or if you experienced hardware failure and are using a replacement device of the same model. In either case, please create a ticket through our Help Center, and our support staff will initiate the transfer.
Transferring or using licenses across multiple devices or models is not supported. For example, if you bought a license for an NAD M10 and are now buying a Denon X3800H, you will need to purchase a new license, as your NAD license is not transferable to the Denon."
Dementsprechend brauchst Du beim Wechsel der Hardwarehersteller eine neue Licenz.

neues Update (Dateidatum: 25.11.2024) verfügbar: Magic Beans Audio
- new: Dirac (2-pass calibration) Export
Here is the method to do the 2-pass method:
1) Run Dirac Live, load flat curve (unzip Flat.zip) to all channels and export to processor?
2) Set speakers to large and do MB measurements Dirac engaged. Export MB filters for Dirac Live (2 Pass) or Dirac Live Bass Control (2 Pass)
3) Run Dirac Live Bass Control or Dirac Live, and load MB targets.
4) Do Post-EQ Sub Alignment
Changelog:
Post-EQ Sub Alignment Updates
It now shows you when you're aligned at 1kHz for the higher frequencies and 50Hz for the sub(s). At those frequencies, you will see a visual indicator in the form of a vertical line as well as a text notification that changes color.Dirac 2-Pass Method Export
An experimental 2-Pass Dirac method export. Typically, Dirac will correct the measurements to a flat response first before conforming to the target curve. The issue is, this correction to flat may not always give the desired result. What we are proposing with this method is a way to undo the initial correction to flat, so we can apply the corrections more directly. The 2-pass method involves running Dirac prior and setting all the target curves in Dirac to a flat line. Then, with Dirac engaged, we run a Magic Beans calibration. Upon export, choose the Dirac 2-Pass method. This will apply correction curves that account for Dirac's undefeatable correction to flat while still applying the final correction curve you desire. Experiment with this. You may find that this leads to more natural high-frequency responses.Fixed an issue where selecting a 7.1 layout doesn't ask for an LFE measurement.

Mac OS Sequoia Security Settings: They've changed the way that unsigned apps (not in the app store) are installed. Upon opening the app for the first time, you may get a message "MagicBeans Not Opened". Your options are Done and Move to Trash. Click Done. Then go to the Apple on the upper left -> System Settings -> Privacy & Security. Find the section that says "MagicBeans" was blocked to protect your Mac. Then click on "Open Anyway". A pop-up will come up and again, you will choose "Open Anyway". You will be prompted to enter your Mac password. You should now be able to open the MB app. If it asks for mic or file access, make sure to allow.

Dirac Live 3.11 // 2024-11-11
Features
- Delay alignment update: The delay compensation for speaker distance alignment has previously been slightly confusing in that the shown delay values have not corresponded exactly to the measured acoustic delay. This has been due to that part of the delay alignment was included as a pre-amble of zeros in the Dirac Live filter itself, leaving only the remaining part of the alignment to be applied outside of the Dirac Live filter. A consequence of this partitioning was that if the user manually disabled the delay alignment, then the part of the delay inside the Dirac Live filters would remain being applied, resulting in a misalignment of the speakers. The new delay values more consistently represent the compensation for actual speaker distance or latency.
- Target curve update: We’re unifying how the advanced target curves (breakpoint) and simple target curves (high and low shelves) behave as input to the filter design. Under the hood, shelving targets will now be converted to breakpoint targets and follow the same filter design process.
- We’re introducing improvements in our measurement functionality:
- Microphone recording level: Different microphones have resulted in different recording levels between MacOS and Windows due to different gains being applied on the microphone hardware and on the OS (operating system). For example, the UMIK-1 with USB-C connector has experienced very low recording levels on MacOS. In order to make all microphones work on all OS:s, we’re now only applying gain adjustment within the Dirac Live application.
- Improved error detection on all platforms: An improved algorithm for detection of missing samples in the measurement recording is introduced. This will generate significantly less false alarms about measurements being “imprecise” (showing an exclamation mark). The improved algorithm will always be applied, both when using microphones connected to the AVR/receiver device and to the PC/Mac.
- Improved recording quality on Windows: The Windows WASAPI driver will be used in Exclusive Mode by default. Exclusive Mode significantly reduces the probability for losing samples during the recording. It is possible to opt-out of Exclusive Mode by setting the environment variable: DAUDIO_WASAPI_NON_EXCLUSIVE = ON
- We’ve extended the local logging from the Dirac Live, including received notifications from the connected device, to improve problem traceability.
- Dirac Live 3.11 has dropped support for MacOS 10 and now only works on MacOS 11 and up. The latest release that supports MacOS 10.14 is Dirac Live 3.9.7.
Bug fixes
- We have fixed an issue that caused the mic gain slider to sometimes not being shown in the Volume Calibration page.
- Sometimes, a persistent error, such as an unreachable network, could generate multiple error messages. We now avoid generating identical generic error messages.
- The function to reset the frequency curtains works again.
- The Dirac Live application could crash when selecting Bass Control for devices from Onkyo with recently updated firmware supporting Dirac Live Bass Control.
Known issues
- Some users have reported that Dirac Live Bass Control does not work well on Onkyo TX-RZ50. We are investigating this together with Onkyo.
- Filter export to devices from Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer take longer time than usual, but it eventually completes.
- It is not possible to use the Qt installer maintenancetool to uninstall the Dirac Live application on Intel-based Macs running MacOS 15.
Workaround: It is possible to install a newer version of Dirac Live without first uninstalling.
